Fall is here! Thankfully, this amazing season brings with it some fun activities perfect for spending time outdoors with friends and family. Here are a few fun fall activities that you can drive to from Bend, OR.

Pilot Butte State Park

Pilot Butte State Park is a great place to take a short drive from Bend and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The park offers hiking trails, picnic areas, and wildlife viewing spots. It’s also known for its beautiful fall colors, so plan your trip accordingly! There are several different hikes at Pilot Butte that make it easy for all ages and skill levels to enjoy.

Hike through colorful forests of aspen, pine, and fir trees on the Pilot Butte Nature Trail. This trail is about one mile long, leading you through some of the most scenic parts of the park. The longer trails include Rim Rock Trail, which is about 3 miles long, or Pilot Butte Loop, which is about 6 miles long. These trails are great if you want to take in more views than just what’s nearby your car!


Sawyer Park

Sawyer Park is a great place to take the family for a day trip or an afternoon of fun in the sun. Located just 20 minutes from Bend, this park offers over 40 acres of grassy lawns and picnic areas for visitors. Activities include hiking trails, playgrounds, and sports fields. You can also enjoy swimming in one of two pools — one for adults and one for children.

The park also offers free Wi-Fi service throughout its grounds, which makes it a great place to stop on your way through town if you’re looking to catch up on work while enjoying the beautiful fall weather. The park is open seven days a week during daylight hours until October 31st.


Tumalo State Park

This beautiful state park is located just an hour from Bend. It features a 2-mile long trail through old-growth forest to Tumalo Falls, which is one of Oregon’s most popular waterfalls. The park also has an interpretive center with exhibits about native plants, animals, and geology found throughout Central Oregon.

If you’re looking for something more adventurous, there are several rock climbing spots and even a zip line! And if you want to spend the night, there are campsites available here as well.

It’s amazing how many beautiful places are within driving distance from Bend. Now, all you have to do is get out of the car and go!
